Admissions Policy
Grace Christian School is open to any student. The school does not discriminate in its admissions policy on the basis of the applicant's race, color, national or ethnic origin.
When the circumstance arises that there are more applicants for a class than there is space to accommodate, the following priority enrollment policy is followed:
1. Present students at Grace Christian School have first priority for reenrollment unless the student's individual situation prohibits reenrollment.
2. First priority for new enrollees goes to families who are active members of Grace Baptist Church. Active membership is defined as (a) parent’s or guardian’s membership in and faithful attendance of the services of Grace Baptist Church, plus (b) parent’s or guardian’s faithful participation in a volunteer church ministry.
3. The next priority for new enrollees goes to families with siblings at Grace Christian School but whose families are not active members of Grace Baptist Church.
4. Last priority for new enrollees goes to families new to the school who are not active members of Grace Baptist Church
NOTE: prior to the 1999-2000 school year, entering siblings of present students, whether or not their family were active members of Grace Baptist, had priority enrollment status over new families who are active members of Grace Baptist Church. When establishing the new priority policy, families already with a child in the school as of the 1998-1999 school year were grandfathered in under the previous policy.
Attendance A Privilege
Although attendance is open to any student, attendance is contingent upon the student and his family agreeing to and abiding by the rules and policies of the school. Students or their families who do not abide by the rules and policies of the school are not permitted to continue in attendance.
Entry Age
The entrance age for the beginning level of the school, the kindergarten program, is five years by September 1st. Students with September birthdays may be tested upon parents' request. If the teacher, upon reviewing the test results, feels that the student may be able to succeed in the kindergarten program, the student is admitted on a probational status until the teacher is able to determine the student's success within the school program. Success is critical at the beginning of the educational process if the student is to succeed in following years. If the student is not able to succeed, the student must be withdrawn. Parents may reapply for admission the following school year.
