GRADES 1 - 5 OVERVIEW

Our program for Grades 1 - 5  is a fully integrated educational program in which we mainly use a combination of the A Beka , Bob Jones University Press and ACSI Christian curriculum materials.

Bible is a graded part of the curriculum and integrated into all areas of student education and life.

Reading, language arts and math are stressed in grade 1, but social studies and science are also included.  Reading, language arts, history, science and math are graded in grades 2 - 5.

Art, computer, and physical education are taught by teachers experienced in these special areas.  Students are graded on their participation in these areas.

Vocal music is part of the curriculum in all grades 1 - 5.   Choir is required in grades 3 through 5 and is an elective in grades six through eight.  Instrumental music is optional for grades 4 and 5.  In-school lessons are included for these students.  Grades are given for the students who participate in these programs.  Choir and band students perform in three evening programs during the school year.

Students in grades 1 - 5 may participate in the annual school Fine Arts Festival in a variety of different areas.  In-class speeches are required in grades three through eight as part of the language arts curriculum.  The best presentations in each speech area are entered into Fine Arts.  Creative writing is done by all students in grades one through eight with the best pieces entered for Fine Arts judging.
